Hai Van Quan has long been praised as the “First Majestic Gateway in the World” for its breathtaking natural beauty and significant military strategic location.
Situated at an elevation of 490 meters on the Hai Van mountain range, Hai Van Quan is an impressive military architectural fortification, regarded as one of the most magnificent gateways in Vietnam. The site is located approximately 90 kilometers north of Hue city center and about 28 kilometers south of Da Nang city center.

Cultural and Historical Significance
Hai Van Quan holds immense cultural and historical value and is also a famous scenic spot, significantly contributing to the tourism development of both localities and the Central Region of Vietnam. Serving as a critical landmark connecting the tourism hubs of Northern and Southern Central Vietnam, the heritage site boasts unique historical and architectural features. Recognizing its importance, on July 14, 2017, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism officially designated Hai Van Quan as a National Historical and Architectural Heritage Site.
Restoration and Conservation Efforts
The site embodies cultural and historical treasures and serves as a popular tourist attraction, bolstering the tourism economy of both Thua Thien Hue and Da Nang. In late 2021, these two localities jointly initiated a restoration and conservation project for Hai Van Quan, with a total investment of over 42 billion VND funded by their respective budgets.
Symbol of Unity and Future Cooperation
The project represents a priceless shared asset and a symbol of the strong partnership and unity between Hue and Da Nang. This collaboration sets a crucial foundation for continued efforts to preserve and enhance the values of this heritage site in the future.
