Honoring Ao dai and cuisine at Festival themed “Fragrances and Colors of Hue”

On March 3, the Provincial Women's Union organized a series of activities within the Ao dai and Culinary Festival themed “Fragrances and Colors of Hue” at the Imperial City night street zone, on the occasion of the 113th anniversary of International Women's Day (March 8, 1910 - March 8, 2023).

The Ao dai given away to members and women in difficult circumstances

At the zero-dong booth, 2,000 Ao dai were given away to members, women and students in difficult circumstances in the province. At the same time, districts and towns displayed and introduced their local specialties. Outstanding culinary artist Phan Ton Gia Hien shared about the rich and unique culinary treasures of Hue; and showed the preparation of special dishes with bold traditional flavors of Hue.

The festival is the initial step and a specific move in the process of building the dossier to recognize Hue Ao dai and cuisine as the national intangible cultural heritage, proceeding to submit to the UNESCO to be recognized as world cultural heritage.

The festival is also an opportunity to re-affirm that Hue is the culinary capital and the Ao dai capital of Vietnam, which also preserves the quintessential values of Vietnamese Ao dai and cuisine, as well as an inspiration in the creation and improvement of the Ao dai and cuisine’s values.

This is an activity for Thua Thien Hue to gradually build and affirm the brand name of Hue – The Ao dai capital of Vietnam and The Culinary Capital of Vietnam; at the same time, promoting the development of tourism and service activities associated with the socio - economic development in a sustainable way.

In the afternoon of the same day, a community Ao dai show and an Ao dai art show themed “Fragrances and Colors of Hue” were also held at the stage of Chuong Duc Gate.
