On the evening of March 25, along the scenic banks of the Perfume River, the city of Hue hosted the grand Opening Ceremony of National Tourism Year - Hue 2025 under the theme "Ancient Capital, New Opportunity," in conjunction with Hue Festival 2025. This event marks the beginning of a series of cultural, sports, and tourism activities across the country.
As part of the artistic program at this significant event, designer Nguyen Thi Doan Trang (Doan Trang Ao Dai) presented her "Cosmic Melody" Ao Dai collection. Inspired by the spirit of the National Tourism Year 2025 theme, "Ancient Capital, New Opportunity," and the excitement of Hue's recent elevation to a centrally governed city, the collection features a variety of colorful Ao Dai, enhancing the elegance of Hue women—both traditional and contemporary, graceful yet confident. The opening night also welcomed other designers, with 75 models gracing the runway, creating a vibrant artistic display of Ao Dai. Under the overarching theme "The River’s Serenade," the artistic program celebrating National Tourism Year - Hue 2025 was further enriched, honoring the beauty of both the people and landscapes of the former imperial capital.
National Tourism Year is an annual event, rotated among different provinces and cities across Vietnam. Over the past 20 successful editions, it has played a crucial role in boosting domestic tourism, attracting international visitors, and promoting Vietnam’s image as a safe, friendly, and hospitable destination that is open to the world.
In 2025, National Tourism Year returns to Hue for the second time. This is not only an honor, especially as Hue has recently become a centrally governed city, but also a strong motivation for the city to continue preserving, celebrating, and spreading its rich cultural heritage. It is also an opportunity for Hue to reaffirm its aspirations for innovation and sustainable development in a new era—one that signals Vietnam’s continued rise. The city aims to deliver a dynamic tourism year with a series of spectacular events, festivals, and artistic programs that celebrate its heritage while offering visitors a seamless blend of tradition and modernity. "Hue aspires to bring a vibrant year of tourism, with unique cultural experiences that honor its legacy while embracing the future," stated the Chairman of Hue City People's Committee at the event.
