In Thua Thien Hue province, the yellow apricot tree, with its unique native genetic source, is often referred to as the Hue Yellow Apricot. These yellow apricots are typically cultivated in royal palaces, pagodas, temples, courtyards, and private homes, adding an elegant touch and becoming a symbol of spring beauty for both nature and the people of Hue. They are deeply intertwined with the daily life of local residents.

With a determined effort to revive the tradition of growing and appreciating apricots among the people of Hue, the province has launched the movement "Yellow Apricots in Front of the Door", which is a key part of the "Hue - City of Four Seasons Flowers" model, highlighting the traditional humanistic landscape ecology of the former capital region.

With the support and participation of the government and the people, some yellow apricot gardens have been planned and planted with genuine Hue Yellow Apricot varieties. This initial effort has yielded positive results, establishing production centers for Hue Yellow Apricot seeds to meet local demand and aiming towards commercializing the product both domestically and internationally.

The leadership of the Intellectual Property Office awarded the Geographic Indication Certificate for "Hue" to the Yellow Apricot product.

The festival contributes meaningfully to creating a platform for conservation, preservation, development, and enhancing the status of this plant species during the traditional Tet holiday. It lays the groundwork for organizing annual events and contributes to the goal of making Hue the homeland of Vietnamese Yellow Apricots.
