Hue Festival 2024: chain of festivities held thoughout the year

On November 22, 2023, the People’s Committee of Thua Thien Hue province issued plan No. 386/KH-UBND on organizing Hue Festival 2024. The four season festival aims to organize event throughout the year to honor values of Hue culture and Vietnamese culture, exploit potentials such as places of interest, festivals, spiritual tourism and visitor attraction. At the same time, the event makes contribution to local socio-economic development so that Thua Thien Hue will become a typical festival city in Vietnam.

Hue Aodai Festival 2023

Under the theme “Cultural heritage with integration and development”, Hue Festival 2024 will be held throughout the year. Chain of events will be kicked off by the grand-opening ceremony - calendar distribution ceremony on January 1, 2024 and wrapped up by Countdown program to be held on December 31, 2024. Its highlight was Hue Festival 2024 week to take place from June 7 to June 12, 2024.

“Xuan Co do” spring festival will be held in the first three months with royal festivals, traditional festivals and rustic festivals. Its highlight is the opening ceremony of the four-season festival 2024, calendar distribution ceremony, diverse royal Tet activities, traditional cultural spaces, spring celebration activities in the past and activities marking Thua Thien Hue Liberation Day.

“Kinh thanh toa sang” (shining imperial city) summer festival takes place from April to June. Its focus is Hue Festival 2024 week which is themed “Cultural heritage with integration and development”. The event will be organized from June 7 to June 12, 2024.

Held from July to September, “Hue vao thu” (Hue in autumn) autumn festival celebrates mid-autumn festival. Activities to be held are lantern parade, lantern display, lantern installation and lion dance, etc.

In the winter (from October to December), “Mua Dong xu Hue” (Hue winter) festival will be held. It is expected to create a joyful atmosphere and bring visitors interesting experience during their stay in Hue. The international music festival and new year countdown program are the two main highlights.
