Last year, Hue University was ranked 6th among Vietnamese universities named in the rankings. This year, however, Hue University reached the fifth place.

The rankings attracted 739 institutions from 31 countries and territories The six representatives from Vietnam were Ton Duc Thang University (=193); Duy Tan University (251 - 300); Hanoi  University of Science and Technology (501 - 600); Hanoi National University (501 - 600); Ho Chi Minh National University and Hue University (601+). 

Time Higher Education rankings is based on eighteen indicators which are similar to world university rankings, however, they were tailored to be appropriate with Asia universities.

Performance indicators are teaching (the learning environment); research environment (volume, income and reputation); research quality (citation impact, research strength, research excellence and research influence); international outlook (staff, students and research); and industry (income and patents).

Hue University placed fifth among 6 Vietnamese institutions ranked by THE

Hue University scored the highest in international outlook. This criteria makes up 7,5% and includes the proportion of international and domestic students (2,5%), the percentage of international and domestic staff (2,5%), international collaboration (2,5%). Attracting undergraduates, post graduates and lecturers around the world is the key for institutions to define their positions in the international market.

Placed 1501+ in world university rankings, Hue University continues to define its position in Asia rankings.
