The festival brings together nearly 600 artisans, amateur performers, actors, and athletes from 11 communes and wards with ethnic minority populations across the city. Taking place from May 29th to 31st in A Luoi 1, A Luoi 2, and A Luoi 3 communes, the event serves as an opportunity to honor, preserve, and promote the distinctive traditional cultural values of the mountain ethnic communities, while also introducing the image of Hue’s highland region to domestic and international visitors.
The festival atmosphere is vibrant with a wide range of cultural, sporting, and tourism activities. A major highlight is the folk arts festival, featuring performances of traditional songs, dances, and music, gong performances, traditional instrumental ensembles, and ethnic costume showcases. The artistic programs focus on praising the Party, President Ho Chi Minh, the homeland, and the achievements of Hue City’s development.
As part of the festival, exhibition spaces showcasing traditional crafts and distinctive OCOP (One Commune One Product) products made by ethnic minority communities are being held at the square and the Ethnic Cultural Center of A Luoi 2 Commune. Artisans are demonstrating traditional crafts firsthand while introducing handicrafts and unique local cultural features. Other attractions include a highland culinary competition, a local specialty market fair, and traditional sporting events such as crossbow shooting, stick pushing, tug-of-war, volleyball, and football, as well as activities recreating traditional festivals of ethnic minority communities.

At the Ethnic Cultural Village in A Luoi 3 Commune, visitors can also experience a theatrical reenactment of the Ar Pục Festival of Solidarity, along with folk tales and legends closely associated with the cultural life of the Pa Co and Ta Oi ethnic groups.
According to the Director of the City Department of Culture and Sports Phan Thanh Hai, the festival not only is a meaningful cultural event for ethnic minority communities in the mountainous region but also contributes to promoting the image of Hue’s highlands, stimulating community-based tourism, preserving traditional cultural values, and creating momentum for sustainable socio-economic development.
With its diverse program of activities rich in cultural identity, the first “Mountain Ethnic Groups Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival” has created a vibrant space for cultural exchange, helping strengthen solidarity among ethnic groups while opening up opportunities for community tourism development linked to the preservation and promotion of the traditional cultural values of Hue’s mountainous region.
