A day like any other day
One early morning, when opening the door, and you feel a cold breath rush across your face, that is when Hue starts entering winter. Before winter set in, the city endured consecutive, devastating floods; and, in that cold air, there still lingers the smell of fresh mud and the traces of things not yet put back in order.
A day like any other day

As winter arrives, the air turns crisp, but the hearts remain warm, steady, and resilient after the floodwaters recede. In “A Day for the Whole Winter”, Xuan An - an author, shares gentle sentiments: “This winter in Hue, I believe, will pass just as all the winters before. Trees and flowers will bloom again to welcome the new spring… I look at the calendar marking the first day of winter, and I see the warm hearth of the past, and my friend’s sparkling eyes, dark, mischievous, clear, and warm, and my heart feels warmed. That is enough for a winter’s day, a whole winter, and the many winters to come in Hue - my homeland. Above me, winter clouds of Hue hang low, so very close…”

To mark the day Hue shifts seasons, Hue Today Weekly presents gentle, peaceful snapshots of the land, sharing a hopeful message: the sunny days are returning, and very soon.
