VESAK CELEBRATION 2026

The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha respectfully announces the program of the Vesak Celebration 2026 (Buddhist Calendar 2570), held at Tu Dam Patriarchal Temple and various locations in Hue City.

This sacred annual celebration honors the Birth of the Buddha and brings together religious ceremonies, cultural activities, charitable programs, and community events in the spirit of compassion, harmony, and wisdom.

EVENT PROGRAM

May 17, 2026 (01/4 Lunar Calendar – Year of the Horse)
Beginning of public decoration and ceremonial preparations throughout the city.

May 21, 2026 (05/4 Lunar Calendar)
Water ceremony and installation of seven lotus lanterns in front of Nghinh Luong Pavilion.

May 24, 2026 (08/4 Lunar Calendar)

• 2:00 PM – Opening chanting ceremony at Tu Dam Temple and continuous Lotus Sutra chanting throughout Vesak Week.

• 4:00 PM – Opening ceremony of the Buddhist Cultural Exhibition at Lieu Quan Cultural Center.

• 7:00 PM – Lighting ceremony of seven lotus lanterns on the Perfume River near Quoc Thai Dan An Bridge.

May 25, 2026 (09/4 Lunar Calendar)

• 6:30 AM – Flower offering ceremony at the Martyrs’ Cemetery and Dai Thanh Pagoda.

• 9:00 AM – Visiting and supporting families of martyrs and revolutionary contributors.

May 26, 2026 (10/4 Lunar Calendar)
Organization of Vesak ceremonies in local wards and communes.
Implementation of humanitarian and social welfare programs.

May 27, 2026 (11/4 Lunar Calendar)
Vesak celebrations in local wards and communes.
Charity visits and gift presentations to disadvantaged families and households with national merit.

May 28, 2026 (12/4 Lunar Calendar)

• 8:00 AM – Reception of Buddhist delegations visiting to celebrate Vesak.

• 4:00 PM – Opening ceremony of the Vegetarian Food Festival on Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street.

May 29, 2026 (13/4 Lunar Calendar)

• 8:00 AM – Reception of visiting Buddhist delegations.

• 5:00 PM – Vegetarian Food Festival activities continue.

• 6:00 PM – Flower car parade opening ceremony at Nghinh Luong Pavilion.

• 8:00 PM – Buddhist music and cultural performances.

May 30, 2026 (14/4 Lunar Calendar)

• 6:00 AM – Monastic gathering and peace prayer ceremony at Tu Dam Patriarchal Temple.

• 5:30 PM – Procession of the Buddha from Dieu De Pagoda to the main ceremonial stage at Tu Dam Temple.

May 31, 2026 (15/4 Lunar Calendar – Vesak Day)

• 6:00 AM – Official Vesak Grand Ceremony at the main stage of Tu Dam Patriarchal Temple.

• 6:00 PM – Flower car parade departing from Tu Dam Temple.

June 7, 2026 (22/4 Lunar Calendar)

• 6:00 PM – Floating lantern festival at Nghinh Luong Pavilion.
