This annual cultural diplomacy activity maintained by Hue College aims to strengthen and develop the special traditional friendship between Vietnam and Laos. At the same time, the program provides Lao students an opportunity to celebrate their traditional New Year in a cordial atmosphere, helping to ease their homesickness and enhance their attachment to the learning environment in Hue.

The event was attended by representatives from the Consulate General of Laos in Da Nang, local departments, agencies, Hue University, and various related organizations. Representing Hue College were the Board of Directors, faculty members, and the entire community of Lao students, creating a diverse and meaningful space for cultural exchange.

Bunpimay Festival – A symbol of New Beginnings

Bunpimay, the most important traditional festival in Laos, signifies the transition to the New Year, purification, and a fresh start. During the program, traditional rituals were vividly recreated, notably the Good Luck Ceremony (Baci) featuring the tying of threads around the wrist to convey wishes for peace and happiness. Additionally, unique cultural performances such as the Lam Vong dance and traditional ethnic music, performed by Lao students and Hue College students, served as impressive highlights of the night.

Connecting through Sports and Cuisine

Within the framework of the event, Hue College also presented awards for sports activities, including football and volleyball for both men and women, which took place from March 26 to April 7, 2026. These activities not only improved physical health but also enhanced the spirit of solidarity and exchange among international students.

Furthermore, a cultural and culinary exchange space was organized for approximately 300 participants, showcasing traditional dishes from both Vietnam and Laos, enriching the experience for delegates and students alike.

The annual organization of the Bunpimay Festival is a testament to Hue College's comprehensive development orientation, contributing to a friendly, integrated, and identity-rich educational environment. It also serves as an important bridge to enhance understanding, cooperation, and sustainable development between Vietnam and Laos in the field of education and training.
