Mr. Hoang Viet Trung, the Director of Hue Monuments Conservation Center (HMCC) presents prize to team winning the contest
On May 26, 2023, a press conference was held by Hue Monuments Conservation Center (HMCC). On this occasion, the organizer presented awards to ideas winning “Y tuong thiet ke cau di bo vuot qua Ho thanh hao noi Thuong thanh” (idea for constructing the pedestrian bridge over Ho Thanh Hao, connecting Thuong thanh) contest.

This contest is aimed at finding out unique and creative ideas from designers and architects; create architecture that is suitable with the heritage space, and solve traffic jam in Cua Ngan gate; ensure the safety and convenience for visitors as well as create a unique architecture.

Hue Monuments Conservation Center held a contest themed “Y tuong thiet ke cau di bo vuot qua Ho Thanh Hao noi Thuong thanh” (idea for constructing pedestrian bridge over Ho Thanh Hao, connecting Thuong thanh) from March 20, 2023, to April 20, 2023. The organizer received sixty-four ideas from 59 authors/teams interested in fine arts and architecture and hoping to contribute to the ancient city in the future. 

Through 2 rounds, the eight judges selected ideas which are appropriate to the heritage space, used suitable materials, applied new technology to conserve heritages, created a community eco-system and ensured Cultural Heritage Law. Through the online vote held on the HMCC’s Fanpage, organized from May 10, 2023, to May 24, 2023, the Organizer selected the most favourite idea.

The organizer presented two 3rd prizes, one 2nd prize, one first prize and one most favourite prize. The first prize was given to Mr. Nguyen Minh Anh’s team. Mr. Nguyen Minh Anh also won the online vote.

Researchers discussed, analyzed and suggested ideas for constructing options on this occasion. On this basis, ideas are contributed, ensuring the balance between conservation and cultural heritage development.
