In implementation of the Government's Decree No. 258/2025/ND-CP and in response to Vietnam Tree Day (January 11), the Hue City People's Committee organized a launch event for urban tree digitization. The activity was led by the Department of Construction, in coordination with the Kim Long Ward People's Committee, the Hue City Information Technology Center (HueCIT), the Green Park Center, and other relevant units. This launch marks a concrete step by the City People's Committee and the Department of Construction in enhancing the application of information technology and digital data in urban greenery management, in accordance with the Government's new regulations.

At the ceremony, Mr. Le Cong Dien – Deputy Director of the Hue City Department of Construction – delivered a speech emphasizing the significance of tree planting coupled with technological applications in urban greenery management. With the message “Green Trees Sprout – The Country Grows,” he stated that this activity is not merely a movement but aims to raise public awareness in environmental protection, creating “green lungs,” improving living spaces, and preserving the urban ecosystem in a sustainable direction.

Immediately following the launch, amidst an atmosphere of excitement and meaning, leaders and delegates directly participated in tree planting at the venue. Each stroke of the hoe and every tree planted holds not only immediate material value but also conveys a profound message of shared responsibility in environmental protection, preserving, and developing the urban greenery system. This activity helps spread "green living" awareness and encourages active community participation in creating a fresh and sustainable living space for today and future generations.

Subsequently, participating forces set out to implement the urban tree digitization plan. Task forces were assigned to specific routes to directly carry out the digitization process, including: mapping tree locations on the digital map, photographing current conditions, and updating technical data such as species, trunk and canopy dimensions, growth status, and signs of pests or risks to infrastructure and traffic safety. Each participant digitized a minimum of 20 trees, with all data synchronized to a centralized management system.

The urban tree management system was researched and developed by the Hue City Information Technology Center (HueCIT) based on the management requirements of the construction sector and specialized units. The system is designed to align with current professional urban greenery management processes, allowing for visual display of trees by route, area, species, and current status. Currently, the system is being applied at the Hue City Green Park Center, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center, and several local districts, contributing to a step-by-step transition from manual management to data-driven urban governance.

Once digitized, the tree data will be reviewed, standardized, and professionally verified by HueCIT in coordination with the Hue City Green Park Center, thereby establishing a “health record” database for each individual tree. This serves as a vital foundation for management units to proactively develop plans for care, pruning, and replacement; promptly detecting and handling trees at risk of falling, especially during the storm season, to improve management efficiency and ensure public safety.
