Speaking at the ceremony, leaders of Thanh Thuy Ward emphasized that during his lifetime, President Ho Chi Minh always paid close attention to the development of physical training and sports and called on all people to actively exercise, with the view that: “Strong people makes a strong nation”. Inspired by this ideology, in recent years, the grassroots sports movement in the ward has continuously developed, attracting a large number of officials, Party members, and people from all walks of life.
The 1st Thanh Thuy ward Sports Festival is organized to showcase forces and objectively assess the development of grassroots sports movements, thereby continuing to promote the spirit of physical training, improve physical fitness, and serve learning, labor, as well as the building and protection of the locality.
The festival has attracted nearly 1,000 athletes from agencies, units, schools, armed forces, mass organizations, and local residents, competing in various lively sporting events. It also provides an opportunity for athletes to exchange experiences and compete in a spirit of solidarity, honesty, fairness, and progress, contributing to the widespread development of the sports movement.
The event also aims to celebrate the successful election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026 - 2031 term; while also marking the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30th, 1975 - April 30th, 2026) and the 140th anniversary of International Workers’ Day (May 1st, 1886 - May 1st, 2026).
