According to VCCA’s statistics, 421 dishes from 60/63 localities across the countries were nominated by Culture and Sports Departments, Tourism Departments, Tourism Promotion Center and Cuisine Culture Associations.
Based on quantity, quality and geographical features, judges selected 121 typical dishes from localities (47 northern dishes, 37 central dishes and 37 southern dishes).
Particularly, Thua Thien Hue has 6 dishes honored at the event. They are “bun bo Hue” (Hue beef noodle soup), “che bot loc boc heo quay” (sweet soup with grilled pork wrapped in cassava flour), “com hen” (Hue mussel rice), “banh loc” (tapioca dumpling), “va tron hoa mau chay” (vegetarian mixed fig) and “com hap la sen chay” (vegetarian steamed rice wrapped in lotus leave).
With rich cuisine quintessence, Thua Thien Hue is highly appreciated in terms of cuisine. Visitors coming to Hue will have a chance to enjoy local dishes. With up to 6 culinary dishes honored, Thua Thien Hue has more dishes recognized than any other localities.
Currently, VCCA is carrying out “Xay dung va phat trien van hoa am thuc Vietnam thanh thuong hieu quoc gia, giai doan 2022-2024” (Developing Vietnamese culinary culture into national brand in 2022 - 2024 period) project. This includes searching for value of Vietnamese typical culinary culture with 1000 dishes. It is hoped that Hue cuisine will have more dishes recognized to enrich the cuisine imbued with local typical culture in coming period.
