In recent years, despite many disadvantages in terms of weather and the Covid-19, epidemic, project-implementing units have made efforts to speed up the progress in possible conditions. Up to now, the project T2 Terminal - Phu Bai International Airport has basically completed the final items of the project and is officially put into operation on April 28, 2023, in order to meet the increasing demand for air travel. It is known that after being put into operation for half a month, Terminal T2 - Phu Bai International Airport will officially be inaugurated on May 13, 2023.
T2 Terminal – Phu Bai International Airport has a capacity of 5 million passengers/ year, with unique architecture, and modern style, promoting Hue cultural characteristics with the idea of simulating the image of Mount Ngu. This unique idea will create a special impression for passengers every time they go to Phu Bai International Airport.
The terminal is invested with modern equipment, and advanced aviation technology, providing many high-quality facilities for passengers, with a design of 2 levels, 3 floors (including the first floor, mezzanine, and second floor). The main functions of the first floor include the arrival hall, luggage conveyor, operation control room, entry area, port authority, customs, crew room, VIP lounge, lost luggage room, electrical engineering rooms, security control rooms, medical rooms, service areas, and toilets. The mezzanine floor consists of airline offices, air-conditioning rooms, toilets. The second floor includes the departure hall, check-in area, security control, exit area, boarding waiting area, VIP lounge, office, service area, and toilet areas.
The construction and operation of the T2 passenger terminal – Phu Bai International Airport contributes to meeting the travel needs of local people while attracting tourists and investors, contributing to the socio-economic development of Thua Thien Hue province.
Currently, the Department of Tourism is working with relevant units, travel companies, and airlines (Vietjet, Viettravel Airlines...) to promote the opening of new routes (including international routes), increase the frequency of flights to Phu Bai International Airport to increase the number of tourists to Thua Thien Hue.
