Introduction:

With the dream that Ben Xuan will be a harmonious place between Thien Mu Pagoda and Van Thanh; as an East-West cultural exchange point, Ben Xuan Garden House is a ten-year work of the talented artist couple Camille Huyen with all memories, understanding, and deep learning about Hue art combined with the imprints of a lifetime living in Europe.

Located on a area of nearly 5.000m2, located on the banks of the Perfume River, in An Binh village (Huong Ho commune, Huong Tra district, Thua Thien Hue province), Ben Xuan is considered as a typical model of "adaptive conservation": Outside is the ancient space with the original Hue traditional values, inside is the comfort, modern and luxurious space.

Architecture:

Ben Xuan is a combination of many works arranged according to the aesthetics of the owner of the house, overall architecture is a garden "model" of Hue with trees and flowers blooming all year round.

The three entrance gates of Ben Xuan are three unique aspects, are three art arrangement by artist Camille Huyen. Each gate is given a name and carried an interesting meaning.

It is the Lotus Gate located on the banks of the Perfume River with the image of a boat floating in the clouds/ on the river with the sky above and below the water shining the shadow of the boat, creating a natural landscape; As well as the unified heaven – earth – humanity, a cosmic law of universe.

Opposite is the Zen Master Gate – the entrance on Van Thanh Street with the Buddha sitting and meditating on lotus pond, simulating an artwork of the famous sculptor Diem Phung Thi.

On the side is the Pen Tower gate - the third gate in the Ben Xuan campus with the highlight of the spell “om mani padme hum” in Sanskrit.

The main house of Ben Xuan is right in the middle of the garden, is a house with 3 pavilions and 2 wings, an old tiled roof with a system of trusses, columns... fine carving. Four sides of the house are ventilated with four wooden shops embossed with dragon-flower with the original door ventilation system. This is also the place to perform music with oil paintings on the wall (by owner Camille Huyen).

On the right side of the main house, there is a brick bridge with a lifespan of more than a hundred years leading the way through the Nghinh Phong house with the architectural silhouette of Khai Dinh emperor and architectural works, decorative motifs simulating the palace and temple of the Nguyen Dynasty. The main house has Co Lau as a place of worship and a library room.

Artistic Value:

Each space in Ben Xuan is poetic, musical; both classical and modern; both solemn and close by the very natural connection of Bat Trang brick paved paths dating back less than 300 years, of green trees in four seasons and of the gentle bridge over the lake... Hidden in each project is the sophistication of Hue women who combine the love of the country in each scene to introduce, preserve and continue to transform...

Not only that, Ben Xuan is also the place where artist Camille Huyen brings popular poetry songs of Han Mac Tu, Cung Tien song.... to art lovers. The theater has a concert hall dedicated to classical music, a large yard for Hue singing performances, water puppetry...
Currently, Ben Xuan is an address for exchanging and promoting Hue culture, Vietnamese culture to friends around the world by opening the door to visitors (through reservation) with meals and music nights directed and performed by Camille Huyen herself.

Along with hospitality, culture, music, history, and cuisine, Ben Xuan is a new destination with great experiences and discoveries for anyone "so that hundreds of years later, when cruising on the Perfume River, some people will remember why we have willow, sycamore along the river banks, and some people will remember the examples of Lotus Gate, Zen Master Gate, Pen Tower Gate".
