The ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the official launch of the plastic reduction tourism destination in Ngư Mỹ Thạnh - Cồn Tộc, kicking off a green tourism journey for environmental sustainability. With the support of the Huế City Department of Tourism, the TVA Project, and local authorities, the plastic reduction tourism destination in Ngư Mỹ Thạnh - Cồn Tộc was established earlier in 2025. Eight tourism service businesses in the area have committed to implementing specific measures to minimize plastic waste in their operations. These businesses have been provided with initial equipment, including glass water bottles, water filtration systems, “Plastic Reduction Facility” signage, and waste sorting bins, to standardize the model and ensure practicality in operations. Additionally, the Huế College of Tourism, in collaboration with travel agencies, has organized experiential tours in Ngư Mỹ Thạnh - Cồn Tộc, focusing on reducing plastic waste. Building on these efforts, the plastic reduction mural route in Ngư Mỹ Thạnh village was officially launched, becoming a new highlight in the journey to develop a green, clean, and community-friendly tourism destination.

The mural route was created by young artists, volunteers, and local residents, featuring 10 vibrant murals along the Cư Lạc - Ngư Mỹ Thạnh tourism route. The artworks vividly depict the life of fishermen in the Tam Giang Lagoon, the region’s unique ecological landscapes, and messages about environmental protection, plastic waste reduction, and promoting a green lifestyle within the community. The mural route not only revitalizes the appearance of the lagoon-side village but also serves as a visual communication tool, raising awareness and encouraging actions to reduce plastic waste in the community.
