For over 20 years, Mr. Hattori Tadashi wholeheartedly brought light to patients suffering from eye diseases, performed thousands of free operations and helped more than 60.000 patients see the world and their loved ones.

Mr. Hattori Tadashi not only directly performed operation, but also transferred technology, passed down knowledge, skills and called for resources to enhance services at Thua Thien Hue Eye Hospital. With his accompany and wholehearted teaching, he is a shining example, a motivation for Hue healthcare staff to improve their expertise and provide locals better services.

Speaking at the event, Chairman Nguyen Van Phuong congratulated Mr. Hattori Tadashi on being bestowed "Honorary citizen" title and expected that Mr. Hattori Tadashi would accompany the province in developing a prosperous, happy and sustainable Thua Thien Hue in the coming time.

Mr. Hattori Tadashi expressed his pleasure to be honored as an honorary citizen, extended sincere thanks to agencies, units and individuals for having supported him during his stay in Hue.

Professor, doctor Hattori Tadashi is one of the leading experts in treating diseases related to fundus and lens in Japan.  He is also the world leading surgeon in Vitrectomy method and Phaco surgery.

Since 2002, he has been invited as a lecturer in Hue Central Hospital, trained over 60 high-qualified doctors working at hospitals in Vietnam and performed 60.000 free operations for patients from disadvantaged background.
