Free 360 VR Cultural Technology Training in Thừa Thiên Huế

On the morning of May 24th, the Thừa Thiên Huế Provincial Information Technology Center (HueCIT) held the opening ceremony for a free training course on Culture Technology using 360 VR techniques.

This is an activity within the framework of collaborative content in digital technology training on VR-360, Photogrammetry between HueCIT and PoSTMEDIA Company (South Korea). PoSTMEDIA is an IT company based in Seoul, South Korea, operating in the New Media field since 1993. As a company bridging culture and technology, PoSTMEDIA is a pioneer in Culture Technology with achievements in numerous challenging projects and patented technologies. PoSTMEDIA creates and designs digital cultural content, provides System Integration (SI) services, and professional IT consulting to develop and preserve cultural values, while inspiring curiosity and expanding people's worldviews through digital media technology. 

Accordingly, PoSTMEDIA organizes the program, arranges instructors, specialized equipment, while the Thừa Thiên Huế Provincial Information Technology Center recruits students, organizes classrooms, provides computers, and facilitates class organization.

The main instructor for the training course is Mr. Kim Jae Seung - an expert in VR360 and Photogrammetry video production from South Korea; assistant instructors are technical specialists from South Korea, with interpreters, and over 20 trainees. These trainees include university students majoring in arts, communication; officers and IT specialists from the Department of Information and Communication, Department of Tourism, Thừa Thiên Huế Provincial Information Technology Center, and individuals interested or working in related areas of digitization and heritage preservation.

The training course on Culture Technology through photogrammetry and 360 VR techniques is designed to digitize cultural elements, preserve, manage, and create content. In the context of explosive information and the rapidly advancing technology of images and videos, 360-degree video is predicted to be an essential factor in enhancing promotional advantages and competitiveness.

The course "Training in Culture Technology through 360 VR techniques" took place from May 24th to May 26th, 2024, focusing on supporting learners in understanding and mastering the process of VR content production, capturing and editing 360-degree panoramic photos, and then producing VR 360 content using local cultural heritage.

Through the course, participants are equipped with knowledge of principles and techniques for digitizing artifacts, as well as gaining experience and practical skills to achieve the highest efficiency and quality. They also learn 360 VR/Photogrammetry techniques to create perfect digitized products.

Dr. Đỗ Xuân Huyền, Head of the Training and Development Department at the Provincial Information Technology Center, added: "This is the only digitization training program organized by the provincial Information Technology Center in collaboration with PostMEDIA Company in Thừa Thiên Huế province, providing free support to learners in acquiring knowledge from basic to advanced levels in digitization and heritage digitization. Following the successful outcome of the Culture Technology training course through photogrammetry techniques held in April 2024, participants of this class continue to join the 360VR course with the desire to access technology and expertise from Korean experts further to enhance their knowledge of heritage digitization systematically and comprehensively. We hope that through this training program, we will contribute to training a workforce capable of contributing to the field of Culture Technology and other sectors in Thừa Thiên Huế in the future," emphasized Dr. Đỗ Xuân Huyền.
