Vocational education in the digital environment
Digital transformation in vocational education aims to implement vocational education activities in the digital environment, promote the application of information technology in management, teaching activities, teaching methods, testing and evaluation to enhance the effectiveness of management and expand methods and opportunities to access vocational education to create a qualitative breakthrough. the quantity and rapid increase in the number of training contributes to improving the quality of human resources with vocational skills, increasing labor productivity and national competitiveness in the context of international integration.
As one of the 36 vocational institutions of Thua Thien Hue province, Hue Industrial College (HueIC) is considered a "highlight" in vocational institutions in the application of technology and digital transformation. Over the past time, Hue Industrial College has constantly improved the quality and efficiency of training through promoting the application of IT in teaching and administration, creating a connected digital environment. With the digital platforms that the university is using, lecturers and students can fully interact with each other online, integrating multimedia lectures to enrich lessons. Faculty and administration can conveniently and accurately monitor student learning, assign assignments, and evaluate students' learning process.
Nguyen Thanh Hoa, HueIC student, said: The lecturers have applied electronic lectures, using many vivid illustrations and videos into the teaching process to help me have more interest in learning and absorbing lessons faster.
According to Dr. Pham Van Quan - Principal of the school, in order to create a change in response to the industrial revolution 4.0, the school determines the focus of its training, not only academic knowledge, but communication and negotiation skills, team building skills, using people; problem-solving and crisis management skills; leadership skills and strategic thinking; including specific skills such as financial planning and cash flow management, new value creation, and customer relationship management. In parallel with the traditional way of teaching theory, the school turned to experiential teaching, the aim of which is to help students understand the mindset of startups and have the ability to choose the best decisions in a particular context.
The college also connects and cooperates closely with more than 500 businesses, including many large corporations to train skilled human resources to meet the development requirements of supporting industries, platform industries, e-commerce and digital economy.
Building a smart educational environment
Implementing Decision No. 2222/QD-TTg dated 30/12/2021 of the Prime Minister on the approval of the Digital Transformation Program in Vocational Education to 2025, orientation to 2030, the Provincial People's Committee has issued guidance documents, assigned the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to assume the prime responsibility and coordinate with agencies, units and localities promote the propagation and dissemination of awareness raising of managers and teachers at vocational institutions about the importance of education in the vocational institutions system in order to build and form a digital ecosystem of vocational institutions to meet the needs of learners in the digital economy, digital society.
With the synchronous deployment to vocational institutions in the province in terms of promoting IT application, digital transformation has brought initial results. Specifically, on educational management, implemented record processing in the network environment; inter-database integration on the province's data sharing and integration platform. In school administration, student records, personnel records and records of facilities and equipment have been managed by digital records with unified identifiers throughout the province; teaching records have been converted to electronic records, gradually replacing paper records.
For teaching functions, the use of applications: Zoom Cloud Meeting, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Moodle, Google Classroom to serve the innovation of teaching methods; or integrating online and face-to-face teaching. Strengthening digital transformation and online training, promoting training links, focusing on retraining and regular training of the workforce to create a strong change in the scale, quality and efficiency of vocational education; ensure that learners have professional skills, digital skills, soft skills, start-up skills adapted to the requirements of the labor market.
Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Binh shared: The province is very aggressive in digital transformation work in the area in general and digital transformation in state education in particular. However, in the process of implementing digital transformation in vocational education, there are still some difficulties, such as IT infrastructure in service still inconsistent; IT equipment system is low configuration; information security and safety systems being limited; Personnel in charge of IT and trade unions in the units are mainly responsible for concurrently adding other jobs, so the application of IT and digital transformation is not strong enough.
