THE 3RD TRADITIONAL DRAGON BOAT RACE IN HUE CITY, 2024

🐉🚣‍♀️ Recently, the People's Committee of Hue City announced that the 3rd edition of the Traditional Dragon Boat Race in Hue City - 2024 will be held on March 23, 2024. The event aims to celebrate the 93rd anniversary of the establishment of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26, 1931 - March 26, 2024), the 78th anniversary of the Traditional Day of Vietnamese Sports (March 27, 1946 - March 27, 2024), and the 49th anniversary of the Liberation of Thua Thien Hue Province (March 26, 1975 - March 26, 2024), in anticipation of the Hue Festival 2024.

The Dragon Boat Race also aims to continue to promote the campaign "Whole people unite to build their physique following the great example of Uncle Ho", while preserving and developing the traditional national sport of the people of Hue City.

The race will commence and take place on March 23, 2024, on the Perfume River and Dong Ba River (Trinh Cong Son Park area, Hue City). Participating in the race will be male and female athletes from wards and communes across Hue City, with 12 boats competing (woven bamboo boats, 9 people each). There will be 9 racing categories with a race distance of 700m - 800m per lap.

For the "Do Cung" and "Do Pha" categories (3 laps, 6 turns): Starting at the flagpole in Trinh Cong Son Park - around the "Lon Ve Ron" turn - up to the upper side of the Dong Ba River - down to the upper side of the Perfume River (near Con Hen) - around the "Lon Ve Ron" turn to the finish line; For the categories of "Tien Nam," "Tien Nu," and mixed male-female (2 laps, 4 turns): Starting at the flagpole in Trinh Cong Son Park - around the "Lon Ve Ron" turn - down to the upper side of the Perfume River (near Con Hen) - up to the upper side of the Dong Ba River - around the "Lon Ve Ron" turn to the finish line.

Through successive editions, the Traditional Dragon Boat Race in Hue City has consistently garnered significant attention from both locals and tourists, serving as a cultural and sporting event of great significance. This year, the race continues to fulfill the demand for experiencing cultural and ethnic sports activities among the populace, while also fostering stronger bonds and solidarity among different entities. It creates a lively and joyful atmosphere throughout the region.
