Dieu De Pagoda is not as captivating as Thien Mu Pagoda, but it has its own charm. The central chamber of the pagoda is called the ‘dai giac,’ this chamber is the place for worship. The ‘la thanh’ system was built using durable and sturdy materials and is next to the pagoda. Dieu De Pagoda had several Buddha statues within its walls before. These statues came from Giac Hoang Pagoda. The citadel played a vital role in the anti-Diem Buddhist rebellion that rattled Vietnam in the 60s, and precluded US involvement. All throughout the 60s, the pagoda was an integral meeting round for anti-war activism.
In the 1960s, Dieu De Pagoda was the starting place of the procession of the Buddha Statue, with floats and tens of thousands of Buddhists from Hue City coming to Tu Dam Pagoda on the occasion of Buddha's Birthday every year.
