Phuoc Duyen Pagoda, located in upper An Ninh village, Hương Long ward, Hue city, hides itself under the foot of a small hill called Ru Vi, next to Bach Yen river.

Introduction:

Along with the flow of history, until now, the temple has become a spiritual site for tourists from all over the world to visit and learn about Buddhism. Phuoc Duyen Pagoda, located in upper An Ninh village, Hương Long ward, Hue city, hides itself under the foot of a small hill called Ru Vi, next to Bach Yen river. The pagoda has an area of about 4000m2, in an isolated location, about 200m northeast of the residential area, so the surrounding scenery is peaceful, suitable for spiritual practice.

 

 
History:

Phuoc Duyen Pagoda, also known as Phuoc Duyen Thien Uyen, was built in 1948 by the Most Venerable Thich Danh Le, the founder. It has a history of more than 700 years, and has been linked with many incidents. Legend has it that the pagoda was formerly known as Oc Tieu pagoda, no one knew who its builder was. Till the Tay Son period, everything about the pagoda was destroyed. When the Most Venerable Thich Danh Le came, there were almost no traces of Oc Tieu pagoda left. After a while, with his compassionate heart, his act of helping people, In 1948, the Most Venerable Thich Danh Le built a temple and named it Phuoc Duyen.

Architecture:

The pagoda was built in the shape of the Sino-Vietnamese letter “Khau”, facing southeast. The front consists of three compartments and two wings, a monastery lecture hall in the Southwest, an apse in the northwest and a guest reception hall in the east There is also a long house with five compartments, which is used as a dining hall and for guest reception purpose.

Phuoc Duyen Pagoda is large in scale and divided into two separate areas including area A and area B. In area A, visitors will come across the magnificent statue of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, surrounded by many neatly trimmed bonsai pots, in addition, when going inside, you will admire the stupa of Most Venerable Thich Danh Le, The Most Venerable Thanh Tue … which was uniquely designed in Thailand, Burma architecture. In area B, what visitors love the most is Tam lake – a uniquely designed lake that could bring a pleasant feeling to travelers when watching the fish swimming in the clear blue water. Also, there is the " Sutra collection Pavillion" – the place where Venerable Thai Hoa worked and lived in the past and is now used to store his books and works.

After many stages of restoration and correction, to this day, Phuoc Duyen Pagoda still keeps its unique architecture and space. Thanks to nature's favor, Phuoc Duyen pagoda always has a peaceful, tranquil scenery, which helps visitors dispel many sorrows and worries in their life.

Phuoc Duyen Pagoda is always open to welcome everyone to come and visit the temple or worship Buddha. The temple is also a place for many people around the region to send their deepest regards to their dead relative and Buddha, and for beings who always keep their minds fixed on good things and have good hearts to take spiritual refugee.
