Lap An Lagoon

On one side lies the "epic" Bach Ma, on the other side lies the graceful Lăng Cô, and in between them, Lap An Lagoon has long been known as the "romantic beauty spot of Hue" with its picturesque and poetic charm, where the mountains and forests meet the sea...

Lap An Lagoon is located near Phu Gia Bridge (on National Highway 1A, passing through Lang Co town, Phu Loc district, Thua Thien Hue province). With an area of 800 hectares, nature has not only bestowed upon this place a winding road around the lagoon like a soft silk strip but also a rich and unique aquatic ecosystem.

Nestled at the foot of the legendary Hai Van Pass, sheltered and protected by the majestic mountains of the Bach Ma range, harmonizing with the cool, crystal-clear waters of the Lang Co sea, Lap An's scenery is one of tranquility, serenity, and dreaminess, very much "Hue-like," long regarded as a picturesque paradise amidst the earthly realm.

Here, there is a special seafood known as "heaven's pearl" or "the gem of the sky"... that is oysters. It's not known since when the locals here have been using discarded rubber tires to catch oysters. Oyster farming is very simple, each household just needs to buy discarded motorcycle tire casings, clean them thoroughly, then split the tire casing in half. These tires are hooked onto a wooden stick, then driven into the lagoon bed, with the sticks lying horizontally, the tires submerged about 10cm from the lagoon bottom, spaced about 30cm apart. After the oysters attach to the tires, they will grow and develop into clusters. According to the statistics of the People's Committee of Phu Loc district, currently, there are more than 100 households farming oysters in Lap An Lagoon. Oysters are a seafood with very high nutritional value, with many wonderful benefits such as combating fatigue, enhancing the body's immune system, and improving metabolic processes. The oysters at Lap An Lagoon are famous for their delicious, fatty, and savory meat, which can be processed into many attractive dishes such as grilled oysters, oyster porridge, stir-fried oysters with onions, oyster salad... so they are loved by tourists near and far. Although it is extremely laborious because most of the production stages are manual, this is still considered a "poverty reduction and hunger eradication" profession for this land.
